Detective Comics #23.3 Review

Detective Comics #23.3
(DC Comics $2.99/$3.99 3D Sept. 18, 2013)

Written by Peter J. Tomasi
Art by Szymon Kudranski

Oh boy, A lead in to a mini series…..lame. Would have been satisfied with a origin but this is something else. Scarecrow has drank the kool-aid and is going around attempting to recruit the rest of Batman’s rouges in preparation for a war, an “Arkham War”. According to Scarecrow Blackgates former residents (lead by Bane) are planning on going to war with the big guns from Arkham. Scarecrow spends the entire issue talking with the likes of Mr. Freeze, Riddler, Killer Croc and Poison Ivy. This is all leading into the forth coming Arkham War. Not sure how I feel about that ’cause Batman’s rouges are some of my favorite villains. Hopefully it will be good and not just some useless trash. IMO DC usually handles tie ins well, we shall have to wait and see on this one. Didn’t care for the art in this issue and I hated how Scarecrow looked. Tomasi’s story was ok, I just wanted something more. I guess you can’t win them all. Was never a big Scarecrow fan and this issue changed nothing. If you are planning on reading Arkham War pick this up as it is all set up for the upcoming mini, otherwise I’d say save your money and buy something else.
