It’s that time again! Hot Cash is here! If you don’t know what it is, allow me to explain. Several times a year Hot Topic runs a promotion where you get a coupon for $15 off of $30. These coupons are known as Hot Cash. Now when the coupons are availabe to be used at the stores Hot Topic also releases codes for online use. These codes are for saving around 50% off your online purchase depending on how much you spend. This is a great time to expand your Funko Pop collection. I know back in July I used this promotion to add to my Pop collection. Pops are $12.50 on Hot Topic’s website so with the codes it’s about $7 a Pop (pun intended) If you buy $30 worth get $15 off, $30 off $60, $45 off $90, $60 off $120, and $75 off $150. Just figured I’d share the love. These codes work for all purchases on Hot Topics website. Shipping is cheap or free if you choose to ship to your local store. The codes are good till the 27th of September, just a couple days left to take advantage. The codes are below, so slide on over to the website and get you some…..wooooo!!!!!

WWE to Split Raw & Smackdown Into Separate Brands Again?

image
As wrestling fans, we can all admit that WWE hasn’t been as entertaining as we know it can be and once was. One of the things that made it interesting was the brand split. “What’s the brand split?” you ask? Well, each show had a General Manager and they conducted a draft of the WWE Superstars & Divas to each show. Once the person was selected, they were exclusive to either Raw or Smackdown. It was an interesting way to get ratings up as you had to watch a specific show to see your favorite sports entertainer. The brand split dissolved a few years ago and some fans have been saying how WWE “needs” to return to it. Leave it to Mattel to possibly give us a spoiler!

image
Smackdown is moving to the USA Network in 2016 and there have been rumors that it may switch to being a Live show. There are also rumors that WWE has big plans and changes in store which is why they may not be too quick to change up the show as it’s currently airing on SyFy. So how does Mattel tie into this? They produce the main line of WWE action figures, their Basic series shipping every month. It’s around this time of year that we start to see upcoming product that will end 2015 and start us into 2016. Every year, Mattel modifies the packaging in terms of shape, size and graphics. So far, they’ve released images for their Battle Pack Series 37 and the graphics featured lead me to believe WWE may be heading back towards splitting up the roster for Raw & Smackdown. Makes sense since they consider NXT the official third brand. WrestlingFigures.com have posted the images to Battle Packs Series 37 as shown:

imageimageimage
As you can see, The Usos have the Raw brand logo on their packaging while J & J Security and The Ascension are rocking the Smackdown logo. What do you all think? Do you think Mattel maybe jumped the gun? Can we see a brand split coming soon? Does the WWE need one? Sound off below in the comments!

Variation Note: Nick TMNT Napoleon Bonafrog

image

As a collector of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures and their variations, I was happy to find another variant from the current Nickelodeon series. Napoleon Bonafrog is the latest figure to have a paint variantion, being the color of his mouth/lips.

image

As you can see in the picture above, one version which I’m assuming is the 1st release being that I got it just as they were starting to ship to Wal-Marts in the new shipper displays, has the pink on his mouth area. The 2nd version has the green. Not sure if it’s an actual variant or if it’s a running production change. Just thought I’f give my fellow TMNT collector’s a heads up!

Is Takara MP-27 Ironhide A Must Own?

YES YES YES and Hell YES!!!

Ironhide

I know a lot of collectors have been knocking Takara’s latest photos of Masterpiece Ironhide. His body is disproportionate from his head, arms are too long or short, and his face sculpt and the shade of red are off. To all those people with negative opinions, please stop. Takara has taken so long in-between new figures because they take the time to make sure you get an even amount of accuracy and detail in both robot and vehicle mode, all while trying to be true to the overall G1 look. That is not an easy thing to accomplish all while making him transform. Sometimes things will be sacrificed. He will be a new mold from all the other Autobots and Takara will be using this mold to also eventually bring us Ratchet. All we need then is Jazz and most of Primes lieutenants will be with him. I can’t wait for him to be released! I already per-ordered it! Estimated time for shipping is in early January of 2016. Happy Hunting

Masterpiece Starscream MP-07 Shipping Soon

Hasbro & Toys ‘R Us are back at it again this year by releasing the next character in their American series of numbered Masterpiece figures; MP-07 Starscream.

MP Starscream was released once before in the US as a Wal-Mart exclusive a few years back but in the last year or so, Takara, the makers of the Japanese MP series decided to create a new mold for the three seeker jets and now that Thundercracker and Skywarp are out, it’s only right we get Starscream. Below is a side by side comparison with the original release on the left side and the new updated version on the right.

You can definitely see the difference, specifically with the head mold. This marks the 7th figure in this relaunched Transformers Masterpiece TRU series, with MP-06 Prowl coming out earlier this summer. According to the TRU website, it is scheduled to start shipping October 13th, but there are some people who have already had luck on their side and have found it out in the wild.

Transformers Collectors, is this something you’ll be picking up or passing on? I know that our own Toy Reviewer, Alex Martinez is already on the hunt for it as he’s asked me to keep a lookout for it!

WWE & Jakks Pacific Sign New Toy Deal

image

Ugh. I guess that sums up how I feel about this announcement. While I’d like to say I’m on the fence, if “Ugh” is the first thing that I can think of when I think about this, then it’s probably how I really feel. As the title states, WWE has signed a new deal with toy company, Jakks Pacific, as I’ve read on PWMania & Wrestlezone.

Jakks held the WWF/E license from 1996 all the way through December of 2009. Now, Mattel currently produces about 99% of WWE action figures and will continue to do so through 2019 so the question remains, what will Jakks bring to the table?

The new WWE Jakks toys will hit stores in 2016 and will include products for everyday dress up, role-play, radio control vehicles, seasonal costumes and Jakks’ 3D IT Character Creator brand, as well as action figures across the Asia-Pacific region.

Here is a quote from Casey Collins, WWE Executive Vice President of Consumer Products:

“In addition to our long-standing master toy partnership with Mattel, we are excited to expand our toy portfolio with a company as innovative and creative as JAKKS Pacific. This new line of products will bring to life our favorite WWE Superstars and Divas in a new way that we are sure our fans and collectors of all ages will enjoy.”

Ummmm, speak for yourself. While I’m a fan of their super cheesy looking Bone-Crunching action lines, it was the Tron Ready/Real Scan stuff that started to kill it for me. Not because of the face scans because those were gorgeous, but because Jakks would cheap out more often than not and give damn near every figure the same body mold. Why were Rey Mysterio and The Undertaker the same height? Laziness. The good thing here is that Mattel will continue the amazing job they’ve started in 2010. Here’s hoping WWE extends their master license with Mattel way past 2019.

Fisher-Price Customer Service Is Exceptional!

Fisher-Price/Mattel has some OUTSTANDING customer service!! When it first was released earlier this summer, I picked up the Imaginext Megazord that came with both the Red & Black Rangers. I noticed the box showed them wearing the Dragon Shields yet the actual figures weren’t so I decided to write them and ask them why? They replied right away and told me that the versions without the Shields were due to having to meet release deadline but that they would be re-releasing the Megazord with the corrected figures but that they would send me the new versions absouletly free! Today, I went to my PO Box and there they were!

image

They didn’t have to send me a thing. They could’ve easily gave me an explanation and told me to look out for the updated version soon to hit stores. Instead they took pride in knowing that their customers’ satisfaction are priority. Kudos to them!

Star Wars: Force Friday is upon us and fans and collectors both lined up outside stores like Toys R Us, Target & Wal-Mart to be the first to grab the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens merch!

From 6-inch & 3.75″ Black Series figures, new Funko Pops, Lightsabers, Miniature Ships, Monopoly and more, most fans had quite a lot of options. Depending on where you were at, there were limits placed.

For example, Jim out in Schaumburg, IL told me that there was a set limit of 3 of each type of item per customer at his Toys R Us while Mike hit the TRU in Melrose Park, IL and he said there wasn’t a limit once the manager saw that people weren’t trying to buy multiples of each. He also told me that there wasn’t many people in line. Jim on the other hand says his store had 120-140 people who all “instantly swarmed the 6″ series”. He mentioned that the “micromachines were a hit as well”. Bernie at the Wal-Mart in Villa Park, IL noted that there was a “small group of fans waiting for the toys”.

Over in Santa Clara, California, Felicia says that the Wal-Mart store celebration there went off great. She tells me the 6″ Black Series were the first to go and it doesn’t look like there was a limit.

All-in-all, it seems fans were able to get what they wanted in most areas. Retailer of Quick Stop Comics in Michigan, Dennis Barger Jr, posted early this morning on his Facebook page that his Toys R Us selection was pretty horrible.

Did you attend Force Friday? If so, sound off in the comments and let me know about your experience!
